This Privacy Policy explains how SP-Energy handles your personal information. SP-Energy is the trading name of Solar Panel Energy (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2019/066312/07, a South African solar equipment supplier and installation company based in Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng.

We have traded since 2013. We supply hybrid inverters, off-grid inverters, three-phase inverters, lithium batteries, solar panels, charge controllers and solar air conditioners from brands such as Deye, Luxpower, Dyness, Greenrich, JA Solar and Jinko. We also quote, size and install complete systems for homes, businesses, farms and commercial properties. Each of those steps involves some personal information, and this policy sets out how we protect it under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

Information We Collect

We collect information directly from you, and automatically when you browse the site.

  • Name, surname, company name and VAT number
  • Email address, phone number and WhatsApp number
  • Delivery address, site address and preferred collection branch
  • Order history, invoices and proof of payment
  • Site assessment notes, roof details and electricity load requirements
  • Product serial numbers submitted with a warranty claim
  • Device type, browser, IP address and pages viewed on sp-energy.co.za

We do not collect special personal information as defined in POPIA, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

How We Use Your Information

Every use has a clear purpose and a lawful basis under section 11 of POPIA.

  • Preparing free quotations and sizing a system correctly
  • Processing orders, payments and refunds
  • Arranging courier delivery or branch collection
  • Scheduling site visits and installations
  • Providing technical support and administering warranty claims
  • Keeping tax invoices and VAT records as South African law requires
  • Sending marketing emails, where you have given consent

Technical details you share, such as your daily load profile or which battery you plan to pair with a Luxpower inverter, are used only to recommend a suitable system.

Cookies And Tracking

The website uses cookies to keep your basket working, remember your preferences, and measure how visitors move through the shop. Analytics and marketing cookies may be set by third-party tools. Third Parties And Sharing

We share information only where it is needed to complete your order or meet a legal duty. Recipients include The Courier Guy for nationwide delivery, payment providers processing EFT, card and PayFast transactions, and manufacturers or distributors handling a warranty claim. Installers appointed for your project receive your site address and contact number. Our hosting, email and accounting providers process information on our written instruction as operators.

We do not sell your personal information. Where an operator sits outside South Africa, we confirm that comparable protection applies as section 72 of POPIA requires.

How Long We Keep Records

Financial and tax records are kept for five years, as required by South African tax and company law. Warranty records are kept for the length of the applicable warranty, which ranges from 1 to 10 years depending on the product. Quotation and enquiry records are kept while there is a reasonable prospect of a sale. Marketing records are kept until you unsubscribe. Once a retention period ends, records are deleted or de-identified.

Unresolved POPIA complaints may be referred to the Information Regulator of South Africa at enquiries@inforegulator.org.za. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00, and Saturday, 08:00 to 12:00. You are also welcome to contact our Vanderbijlpark office directly.
